Junior Miss tickets on sale
Tickets are on sale now for the Mississippi Junior Miss Program, to be held Aug. 2-4 at the Temple Theater in downtown Meridian.
Reserved seat packages for all three nights are $30 each, while general admission packages for all three nights are $20 each. General admission tickets for each day are $5 for Thursday, $8 for Friday and $10 for Saturday.

Technology tour set for Monday
A Technology@Home in Mississippi tour will be held Monday at Union Station from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. The meeting will take place in a second floor conference room.

Books-A-Million hosts Harry Potter celebration
Books-A-Million will host a Harry Potter birthday celebration Tuesday, at 5:30 p.m., at Bonita Lakes Crossing. The party coincides with the release of the "Harry Potter Movie Poster Book."
A costume contest will be held for children dressed as Quidditch characters. The event will also include a movie poster art contest; children should draw what they think the movie poster should look like.
The store is located at 1187 Bonita Lakes Circle, adjacent to Bonita Lakes Mall.
Boil water' alert canceled
A "boil water" alert issued July 5 for customers of Central water Association's Southwest Well Division has been canceled. Two consecutive samples have been tested and cleared by the Mississippi State Department of Health.
Democrats to hold workshop
The Mississippi Association of County Democratic Chairpersons will have a workshop on parliamentary procedure and party rules Saturday, at 10 a.m., in Jackson City Hall.
Topics covered will include basic and advanced parliamentary procedure; party structure and functions; the state party constitution; and the party in state law.

Cancer Society announces camp
On Aug. 1-4, pediatric cancer patients from across the state will spend three days at the American Cancer Society's annual Camp Rainbow. The event will take place at Roosevelt State Park in Morton. Camp Rainbow is a special camp for cancer patients ages 6 to 17. It is free of charge to all participants.
