Baseball
John Moss Fall Baseball: registration for ages 14-17 is going on now until Aug. 18. Registration forms may be picked up at Judge Little. The $35 registration fee is due upon sign-up. Games will be played on Monday and Tuesday night beginning Aug. 27 thru Oct. 30. For more information, contact Johnny Warren at 482-0778.
Basketball
Hoops Summer Slam: 3-on-3 basketball double elimination tournament, sponsored by the Tupelo Parks and Recreation Department, will be held July 28 at the Front Street Courts. There is no registration fee, with teams registering at 4:30 p.m. each day and action beginning at 5 p.m. There are age groups for boys, girls, men and women. Duathlon
Lake Lowndes State Park: in Columbus will host a the 9th Annual Lake Lowndes Duathlon Aug. 18 beginning at 8 a.m. Distances are a two mile run, 13 mile bike ride and another two mile run. Early entry fee is $20 with registration the day of the race $25. For more information, call 662-328-2110.
Physicals
The Meridian Public Schools: athletic department will hold physicals for the upcoming year Tuesday, July 31 at 4 p.m. in the Meridian High School gym.
Soccer
MYSO Select tryouts: will be held Aug. 6 and 7 from 6-8 p.m. at the MCC Soccer Field. Youths age 10 and up interested in a traveling soccer team should plan attending. There will be a $5 tryout fee in the U11 boys, U12 girls, U13 girls and U14 girls age divisions. For more information, contact Tom Uhl at 486-1589 or Chuck Rowell at 737-8068.
U14 Select Girls Tryouts: will be held Aug. 1 and Aug. 3 from 6-8 p.m. at the Starkville Sportsplex. For more information, contact Selina Stewart at 662-323-5442, Marlinda Phillips at 662-323-3275 or Carlen Hennington at 662-323-5028.
MYSO Fall Registration: The Meridian Youth Soccer Organization is holding fall registration July 1 through Aug. 15 for boys and girls ages 4-18. Registration forms may be picked up at Mr. Rodger's Donuts. For more information, contact Bruce Reau at 581-3023.
Softball
USSSA Class D: State tournament will be held Aug. 11 at the Laurel Sportsplex. USSSA Core 47 Worth balls will be used only. For more information, call Larry Green at 601-428-8851.
Swimming
Masters Swimming: is open to swimmers 18 and over, triathletes and those who love to swim. Sessions are currently meeting Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6:30-8 a.m. and Monday thru Friday from 4-6 p.m. at the Highland Park Pool. For more information, call 604-1440 or 693-5496.
Tennis
Meridian Area Tennis Association: is hosting a junior tennis camp daily from 9-11 a.m. at the North East Tennis Center. Cost is $45 per week. For more information, contact Dave Trebisky at 483-3526.
Volleyball
Any females in grades 7-12: and their parents are invited to a meeting to be held in the MHS gym at 5:30 p.m. July 30 to discuss participating in volleyball at MHS this year. For more information, contact MHS AD Billy Burnham at 484-4443.
