Nicola Christine Makey and Lix Joseph Frug III, both of Meridian, were married Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at Central United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jimmy Harrison officiating.
Parents of the couple are Dr. and Mrs. David Arthur Makey and Mr. and Mrs. Lix Joseph Frug Jr., of Meridian.
Grandparents of the bride are Dr. and Mrs. Arthur Robertson Makey of London, England; Christina Wallace of Dublin, Ireland, and the late William Wallace.
Grandparents of the bridegroom are the late Mr. and Mrs. Lix Joseph Frug, the late Elbert Brown and the late Josephine Cutler.
A medley of Irish, Scottish, English and traditional music for the ceremony was presented by Barry Germany, pianist; Emilia Massengale, harpist; Jerald Bailey, trumpeter; Susan Johnson, flautist; Vince Massimino, violinist; and Stephanie Garrett, cellist. Vocalists were Anne Crowson, Billy Melton and Mary Lacy Montgomery. Emily Mitchell served as lector.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a strapless gown in white silk satin. The bodice and hemline were covered with Alencon lace, pearls and crystals, continuing into a chapel length train adorned with covered buttons. She also wore a two-tiered cascading veil and a headpiece of fresh water pearls and tanzanite crystals.
Laura Walden Lancaster of Birmingham, Ala., was matron of honor, while Caroline Elizabeth Makey and Kristina Lynn Makey, sisters of the bride, were maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Elva Suzanne Burks and Natalie Anne Fort, both Atlanta, Melissa Frug Marquez of Washington, D.C., sister of the bridegroom, Elizabeth Barefield Powell of Jackson, Brooke Douglas Vowell of Philadelphia and Suzanne Christina Wallace of Dublin, Ireland.
Honorary bridesmaids included Jolie Jackson Carle, Marion Daniel Curry, Leigh Robinson Ford, Olivia Holmes Maley, Courtney Elaine McCay and Hope Braddock Mitchell. Flower girls were Anne Coursey Little and Rosemary Marguerite Marquez.
The father of the bridegroom served as best man. Groomsmen were James Burton Carle, Joseph Andrew Davis, David Covington Hopper, Thomas Dale Little Jr., Ian Andrew Makey, brother of the bride, and Ellis Gerald Mitchell Jr., all of Meridian, and Don Luis Frug Jr. of Oxford. John Thornhill Marquez III served as ring bearer.
Rose petal girls were Mary Lela Valentine and Sunny Caliste Rush. Program attendants were Lisa Selman Abbay, Emily Joy Grant, Merrick Greene Jackson and Brooke Andrea Lawyer. Memori Leigh Dean served as the bride's proxy.
Northwood Country Club was the setting for the Saturday evening reception.
After the honeymoon, the couple will reside in Meridian.
