Rain wreaks havoc on golf tourneys

Early morning rain Saturday, coupled with Friday's downpour, forced cancellation of the first round of a pair of local golf tournaments.
The first round of the mixed scramble at Briarwood Country Club was washed out. The tournament is slated to begin today, weather permitting.
Briarwood pro Rob McGraw said teams will play 18 holes today with the flights to be determined by a drawing of either the front nine score or back nine score following the conclusion of today's play. The morning round will tee off at 8:30 a.m. with the afternoon flight to start at 1 p.m.
The Family Scramble at Northwood Country Club ran into the same problem with the weather. Play is scheduled to begin today.
