50th anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Willice H. Thorne
Mr. and Mrs. Willice H. Thorne will celebrate their 50th anniversary with a reception on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001, from 2 p.m.-4:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Oakland Baptist Church. The Thornes were married Aug. 11, 1951. They have one child, Stanley Thorne of Newton; three grandchildren, Matthew and Dustie Thorne, and Heather Jenkins of Decatur. The event will be hosted by their grandchildren and friends. Family and friends are invited to attend. The couple requests no gifts.
50th anniversary
Jennie and Virgil Watkins
The children and grandchildren of Jennie and Virgil Watkins will host a 50th anniversary reception Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001, from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Midway Baptist Church. The couple were married Aug. 18, 1951. They have two sons, two daughters-in-law and six grandchildren. The couple requests no gifts.
Bagleys celebrate 50 years together
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Bagley celebrated their 50th anniversary on July 21, 2001. Their children, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Bagley of Columbia, Tenn., and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Bagley of Meridian hosted a family retreat at a mountain lodge in Gatlinburg, Tenn.
The Bagley's grandchildren, Richie, Blair, Callie and Laura, led the family in several excursions. On the night of July 21, the family celebrated with a dinner at Legend's Restaurant in downtown Gatlinburg. The couple ended their trip by visiting Don and Jean Lamar McIntosh of Winterpark, Fla., who were vacationing in Maggie Valley, N.C.
Mrs. Bagley is the former Karlen Walker.
25th anniversary
Louie and Paris Hopson
Louie and Paris Hopson of Porterville celebrated their 25th anniversary on July 31, 2001. They have two children, Louie Hopson and Parida Serton; and two grandchildren, Keanu Lee and Jada. Mr. Hopson is retired from the U.S. Army and works with GCR at NAS Meridian. Mrs. Hopson is employed with the U.S. Postal Service.
