Lady Trojans under new leadership

There will be a new face standing in the third base coaching box this year for the Northeast Lauderdale Lady Trojans. After guiding the Lady Trojans to an appearance in the 2000 MHSAA state playoffs, Tommy Dale Gunn departs Northeast. The man chosen to take his place is none other than Trojan baseball coach, Chris Harper.
One may question that a team that has just two seniors as compared to eight sophomores is not that experienced. However, the Lady Trojans have every returning starter from last season again this year. The team also includes three juniors and six freshmen.
Harper is looking forward to the upcoming season.
Last year, Northeast captured it first ever Division 5-4A title and made it to the second round of the state playoffs when they fell to Lawrence County after beating 1999 Class 4A runner-up George County in the first round.
The Lady Trojans begin their 2001 campaign on Friday when they will participate in the Neshoba Tournament.
