Meridian 13-year-olds remain undefeated

WILSON, N.C. The Meridian 13-year-old all-stars stand at 4-0 in the Babe Ruth World Series following Wednesday night's 7-1 victory over East Tonka, Minn.
Meridian used five pitchers during the game. J. Stoddard threw two innings and was the winning pitcher.
Meridian outhit East Tonka, 6-3. Drew Snider led the way with a triple. Also collecting hits for Meridian were Tyler McMullen, Nathan Peden, Cory Griffin, Demetric Young and Rodney Warren.
Meridian scored two in the first, two in the third, one in the fourth and two in the fifth. East Tonka's run came in the fifth inning.
Snider scored on an error in the first inning and Peden singled in McMullen, who reached base on a single.
In the third inning, Snider knocked in Tyler Vick with a triple. Snider then scored in McMullen's sacrifice fly. to make the score 4-0.
Michael Pogue knocked in a run during the fourth inning as Corey Hart scored on the fielder's choice.
Meridian's final two runs were scored in the fifth inning. McMullen came in on an error, and Bullock brought in Griffin on a fielder's choice.

On Tuesday night, Meridian defeated the host Wilson County team, 7-1.
Ricky Gardner was the winning pitcher.
Meridian outhit Wilson County 9-3. McMullen led the way with three hits, including a double and a triple. Snider added a double and a single, and Pogue had two singles. Other hitters included Peden and Clark Bullock.
Meridian scored one in the first, one in the second, three in the fourth and two in the sixth. Wilson County's run came in the fifth inning.
McMullen's double brought in Snider in the first inning. Pogue, who reached base on an error, scored on a wild pitch in the second inning to give Meridian a 2-0 lead.
Rodney Warren, who got on base with a walk, scored Meridian's first run of the fourth inning. Then Nathan Peden singled to right field, bringing in Bennett and Bullock.
In the sixth inning, Snider doubled and then scored on McMullen's triple. McMullen then scored on a wild pitch.
