The Lamar School Raiders hope to not only score some points this week, but also pick up a victory at the expense of Central Academy.
The two squads, which were both blanked in their season openers last week, meet up on Friday in Macon. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
Despite the 28-0 loss at Wayne County last week, Lamar coach Mac Barnes was generally pleased with the Raiders' progress.
Part of the coach's optimism can be traced to the performance of the strong side of his offensive line. Guard Vaughn Waters and tackle Roland Terry both graded out in the Wayne game.
Two Raider backs did manage to combine for over 100 yards in rushing.
Dylan Anderson picked up 53 yards off 18 carries while Lane Rush had 52 yards off 12 totes.
The Raiders' main focus this week has been on correcting the mistakes which helped set up Wayne's touchdowns.
Central comes into the contest having lost to Leake Academy 30-0 last week.
The Raiders defense is expected to be led by Monroe Mayfield. The middle linebacker paced the club in tackles against Wayne.
