DR. REUBEN LEON JOHNSON
Former medical director of Pine Forest Sanitarium and Hospital
Services for Dr. Reuben Leon Johnson will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Conn Arnold and Jerry Brown speaking at the service. Burial will be in Pine Forest Cemetery.
Dr. Johnson, 95, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, in Madison, Tenn.
Dr. Johnson's name appeared in the First Edition of Who's Who of Mississippi in 1974 as an outstanding citizen for his medical service to this community. Dr. Johnson was a general surgeon and graduate of Loma Linda University-School of Medicine in Loma Linda, Calif. During his professional career he served as medical director of Fountain Head Hospital in Portland, Tenn., where his name is listed on a State Historical Marker for medical service to that community.
In 1950 he began his practice in this area where he served until his retirement. During those years he served as interim medical director, physician/surgeon at Matty Hersee Hospital. He had a medical practice at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center, Rush Foundation Hospital, Saint Joseph Hospital-Meridian and Pine Forest Hospital in Chunky, where he was medical director and had a clinic.
Dr. Johnson was married to Betty Nicholson, of Zanesville, Ohio, his wife of 47 years, who died in 1985. At age 81, he married Mildred Turner of Apopka, Fla., his wife of 12 years, who died in 2000.
He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Allen of Madison, Tenn., and Carolyn Shilling of Manchester, Ky.; three step-children, Virginia Huff of Portland, Tenn., Dorothy Musselwhite of Orlando, Fla. and Charles Turner II of Wisconsin.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

PHILADELPHIA Services for Jack Lohman Moody will be held today at 11 a.m. at John E. Stephens Chapel with the Rev. John Stephens officiating. Burial will be in Salem Baptist Cemetery.
Mr. Moody, 73, of New Orleans, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, at Metropolitan Hospice in New Orleans.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Sue Moody and a son, Tommy Moody and his wife, Gina, all of New Orleans; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

PHILADELPHIA Graveside services for Billy R. Young will be held today at 1 p.m. at McClain Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. David Richardson officiating. McClain-Hays Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Young, 46, of Pensacola, Fla., died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at Hospice House in Pensacola.
Survivors include his mother, Dessie Young of Fulton; four sisters, Dot Shands of Belden, Nancy Compton of Moundville, Ala., Mary Sneed of Tupelo and Brenda Clayton of Fulton.
Visitation will be today beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Services for William Chester Scarbrough will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Scarbrough officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Scarbrough, 70, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, in Lillian, Ala. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and a lifetime member of the VFW.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Scarbrough and a daughter, Charlotte Oliver and her husband, Richard, all of Meridian; a son, Danny Scarbrough and his wife, Sherri, of Lillian, Ala.; four brothers, Wesley Scarbrough of Meridian, Wayne Scarbrough, Robert Shepherd and Glen Shepherd; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
O.C. MCNAIR
UNION Services for O.C. McNair will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Milling Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Cafer officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
Mr. McNair, 83, of Brandon, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at Baptist Hospital in Jackson.
Survivors include his wife, Margueritte McNair of Brandon; a son, Ronald McNair and his wife, Gena, of Jackson; and a granddaughter, Barron Killens of Florence.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Services for Letcher "Fat" Jones Jr. will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmie Johnson officiating. Burial will be in St. Luke Cemetery with Enterprise Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Jones, 75, of Meridian, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, in his home.
Survivors include a sister, Mary Lee Key of Meridian; and a devoted niece, Mariatta Jones.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sallie Jones.
Visitation will be today.

Graveside services for Eugene Lane Sr. will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Little Zion Cemetery in Stonewall with the Rev. Jimmy Jones officiating. Berry and Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Lane, 77, of Stonewall, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, in his home.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruby Reed of Stonewall and Mary Walker of New Brunswick, N.J.; two sons, Edward Lane of New Brunswick and Kenneth Lane of Okmuegee, Okla.; 25 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
ABRAHAM MCCLINTON SR.

Services for Abraham McClinton Sr. will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at St. Luke Baptist Church with the Revs. L.C. Thedford and Jimmy Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Barker Cemetery in Marion with Clark's Memorial Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. McClinton, 80, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at Rush Foundation Hospital. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Louisina Clark McClinton, sons, Leslie McClinton, Jessie Francis McClinton, James McClinton, Charles McClinton and Luke McClinton, all of Meridian, Abraham McClinton of Millington, Tenn., Al Joseph McClinton of Kingston, N.C. and Michael McClinton of San Diego; 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son, John E. McClinton; and his parents, Valuretta Lowery and Brown McClinton.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
