Clarkdale takes 11-10 district win over Newton

The Clarkdale Lady Bulldogs came alive in the third inning to slip past the Newton High Lady Tigers in a 11-10 victory Tuesday night.
Newton opened up the game with three runs in the first inning. They scored three more in the top of the third and seemed to be in control led by pitcher Sharita Jones (2-4, RBI).
The Bulldogs would not stay silent long coming alive in the bottom of the third inning putting up seven runs.
The Tigers continued their slow and steady offensive attack with two run sin the fourth and one at the top of the sixth.
The Bulldogs held and put up four runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth.
Newton managed to score one run in the seventh and ended up leaving the winning run on base as Bulldog pitcher Kaylea Thrash led an excellent defensive stand.
Big hitters for the Lady Bulldogs included JorD'an Orr (3-4, double, 3 RBI's), Brandi Wright (3-3, double, RBI), Emily Howard (2-3, double, 2 RBI's), Sabrina Woodall (2-3, double, RBI), and Bethany Spidle (3-3, 3 doubles, 3 RBI's). One RBI also came off the bat of Ashley Satcher.
Newton multiple hitters included Kotrece Bender (2-4, double, 2 RBI's), Tay Moore (3-4, double), Marquita McLaurin (3-4, double, triple, 3 RBI's), and Gwynn Ruffin (3-4, double, RBI). RBI's also came from Sharita Jones, Denesha Qualls, Nikki Bender, and McKenzie Burton.
Clarkdale stand at 9-7 as they look ahead to a Thursday road game to Enterprise. The Tigers leave with a 6-9 record.
