Lauderdale County 4-H Club officials will once again host the annual Southeast District 4-H Horse Show next summer.
The Lauderdale County 4-H Club won the rights to host the show for the second consecutive year; Forest and Harrison counties also were interested in hosting the event.
The event will be July 11-13 at the Lauderdale County Agri-Center, with 21 counties from the Southeast District participating. This year's event attracted more than 250 children and nearly 1,000 parents and family members to the Meridian area.
Rodgers said Lauderdale County will host the event because of camper hook-ups at the Agri-Center. He also said the local 4-H Club found area businesses to haul cattle to the Agri-Center and partially fund horse show awards.
Rob Seale, the director of the Agri-Center, said he is delighted to be hosting the event again.
Seale said the three-day event is also a big money maker for the county. He said the Agri-Center made $4,000 during this year's show and he expects the same result next year.
