West Lauderdale looks to snap a two-game losing skid Friday night when the Knights host Greene County in a non-region affair. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
West fell to 3-3 with last week's 39-32 Region 5-3A loss at Philadelphia. The Knights are 1-2 in league play.
Greene County comes in with a 3-3 mark following last week's 20-15 loss to unbeaten West Marion. The Wildcats are 2-1 in Region 8-3A that also features an undefeated Columbia team.
It's an injury-depleted Knight team that will have to defend the Collinsville turf from the invading Wildcats. Definitely out, McCain said, are wide receiver Van Wilson (knee injury and out for the rest of the year), running back Carlessio Blanks (shoulder), and offensive lineman Jon Parker (infection in hip bone, out for the rest of the year). Defensive lineman Todd Pruitt was injured in practice this week. Running back Nick
Baughman will be limited due to an ankle injury
The schools are familiar with each other on the baseball diamond as the Knights defeated the Wildcats two games to one en route to the Class 3A state championship last spring.
McCain said Greene County could make some noise in the football playoffs this fall.
Friday's game will be the first between the two schools in football.
