Candlelight vigil set for Sunday
The 2nd annual candlelight vigil in honor of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month will be held Sunday at Poplar Springs Drive United Methodist Church's prayer garden. The 7 p.m. service will be non-denominational.
The event is sponsored by PAILS, which stands for the Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support group of Meridian.

Hershey's Kissmobile
to visit Meridian
One lucky person will win a year's worth of chocolate kisses when the Hershey's Kissmobile comes to Meridian. It will visit the Bonita Wal-Mart Monday from 3:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Children can have their pictures made with the Kissmobile for $3. All the money raised will go to the Children's Miracle Network in Mississippi.
Local tourism planners meet
The Lauderdale County Tourism Bureau will hold its quarterly meeting for event planners Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. The meeting will be at the Meeting Place, next to the McRae's entrance at Bonita Lakes Mall.
The guest speaker will be George McMillan, president of McMillan Associates of Birmingham, Ala. Anyone interested in event planning is invited to attend. Call the Tourism Bureau at 482-8001 to register.
Business lobbies for tort reform
Representatives of the National Federation of Independent Business will visit Meridian Wednesday as part of a statewide outreach to encourage small business owners to push for tort reform. The meeting will be held at 7:30 a.m. at Luigi's Restaurant, 910 Highway 19 North. It is open to the public. For information, call Ron Aldridge at (601) 355-6696.
Flu vaccines available
The Lauderdale County Health Department will hold a special flu and pneumonia vaccine clinic for high-risk individuals Wednesday from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. The cost is $10, and the fee can be paid by Medicare or Medicaid.
Neshoba cattlemen's
association to meet
The Neshoba County Cattlemen's Association will meet Thursday, at 6:30 p.m., at the Neshoba County Coliseum. A nominating committee, which will choose candidates for vice president and two board positions for 2002, will be selected. Veterans Day parade
The deadline to register for Meridian's Veterans Day Parade is Oct. 19. The parade will be held Nov. 11, at 3 p.m. Applications are available at Chief Administrative Officer Ken Storm's office in City Hall, 601 24th Ave.
