Alicia Lynne Davis of Meridian and John Christopher Cummins of Roxie were married Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001, at The Grand Hotel in Point Clear, Ala., with the Rev. Tommy Dee Gilbert officiating.
Parents of the couple are Dr. and Mrs. Donald Smith Davis of Meridian and Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Cecil Cummins of Roxie.
Grandparents of the bride are Margie Smith Davis of Iuka and the late Claude Doan Davis, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Thomas Ruble of West Point.
Grandparents of the bridegroom are Earlyn Maxwell Mullins of Roxie and the late Charles Williams Mullins, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Vardaman Cummins of Meadville.
Music for the ceremony was provided by the Carlson String Trio of violins and cello.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a gown of silk organza. Rows of embroidered lace trellised down the front of the strapless bodice to the hemline of the A-line skirt which swept into a chapel-length train. Her veil of silk edged illusion fell from a tiara of silver filigree, fresh-water pearls and tiny crystals.
Maid of honor was Joly Cecile Cummins of University, sister of the bridegroom. Matrons of honor were Eleanor Watson Davis of Oxford and Stacy Jackson Davis of Meridian, both sisters-in-law of the bride.
McClellan Adele Davis of Oxford, niece of the bride, was flower girl.
The father of the bridegroom served as best man. Groomsmen were Donald Smith Davis Jr. of Oxford and Joseph Andrew Davis of Meridian, both brothers of the bride. Usher was Kenneth Shane Mann of Roxie.
A reception was held at The Grand Hotel following the ceremony.
After a honeymoon in Martha's Vineyard, Mass., the couple resides in Meridian.
