Clarkdale splits pair with EHS

The visiting Enterprise Bulldogs scored an 80-76 win over the homestanding Clarkdale Bulldogs in high school basketball action on Tuesday night in the Clarkdale Tip-Off Tournament.
The contest was the season opener for Enterprise and the second game in two nights for Clarkdale.
In the girls game, Clarkdale took a 62-50 win over Enterprise. Thursday's tourney action has Newton County facing Southeast Lauderdale in girls and boys action beginning at 6 p.m.
The consolation games and finals are set for Saturday beginning at 4 p.m.
Both teams had lots of problems shooting to open up the contest until Bryant Gaddis hit a three-pointer to give Clarkdale an 11-8 lead with 1:48 remaining in the first quarter.
Enterprise finally got back on track with a basket from Cody Hicks to cut the Clarkdale lead to 11-10. Clarkdale poured on the offense with seconds remaining in the first to take a 15-10 lead paced by a three-point shot from Brandon Mabry.
Clarkdale gave the home crowd something to cheer about to open up the second period as the Bulldogs hit two baskets to extend the lead to 19-10 with plenty of time left until the halftime break. Enterprise came rumbling back behind senior Corey Bogan to trim the Clarkdale lead to 19-16 with 3:45 left.
Bogan continued to ignite the Bulldog offense on the next possession to tie the game at 19-19. Clarkdale would quickly respond with an outburst of points from Gaddis and Mabry to give Clarkdale a 26-24 lead at the half.
Enterprise came out of the locker room on fire as Bogan nailed a three to make the score 27-26 with 6:54 left in the third period of action. Clarkdale regained the edge on three straight baskets from Gaddis to give the Bulldogs a 37-29 lead with 4:54 left in the third.
Enterprise responded with authority from Bogan who connected on a basket followed by a shot from Mitchell Burns to cut the Clarkdale lead to 37-35. Clarkdale gained an immense amount of momentum behind Gaddis and Mabry to take a huge 46-35 lead with about 2:11 left in the third.
Bogan once again led the charge for Enterprise on a three-pointer to make the score 46-38. Burns came up with the biggest shots of the third period nailing two three-point shots in a row to make the score 48-47 to end a
