The Union Yellowjackets will make their first playoff appearance in school history Friday night when they head down I-55 South just past Brookhaven to play Bogue Chitto in the first round of the Class 1A state playoffs.
Union, 6-5, takes on a 10-1 Bogue Chitto team that is making history of its own as the 10 wins are a school record.
The Jackets lost a 23-20 thriller at unbeaten Puckett last week after falling behind 10-0 right off the bat. Union earlier dropped one-point games to Lake (31-30) and Pelahatchie (7-6).
Freshman tailback Anthony Johnson had 122 yards on 10 carries for Union last week. One of his runs produced a 96-yard touchdown.
