Carver Middle School is one of 30 middle schools nationwide piloting the Success for All program that is already in place on the elementary level in the Meridian city school district.
Carver is the only middle school Success for All model in the state.
The school received a $65,000 a year grant over three years from Comprehensive School Reform Development funds to start the program.
Success for All is a restructuring program based on intensive intervention and tutoring for students with academic difficulties. It emphasizes cooperative learning among students, assesses student strengths and weaknesses and engages parents.
Students are required to read at least 20 minutes aloud at home and parents are supposed to sign forms to let teachers know it was done.
