With another successful soccer season in the books, Meridian Community College head men's coach Steve Clements can now pursue his other big passion deer hunting.
Clements is on vacation for the rest of the week, but before he went, he discussed the Eagles' season which ended Sunday with a fourth-place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament in Tyler, Texas.
The Eagles went 4-1 in five playoff games and finished the season with a record of 19-3-2.
As for replacing outstanding sophomores in mid-fielder Garthfield Whyte and sweeper Cecil Noyce, the task is already underway.
The returning Eagles will be back at work next Monday. Getting stronger will be a priority.
A big building block for next season will be the return of Mahlon Sullivan who led the team with seven goals in the national tournament. He was named to the All-National Tournament team along with Whyte.
