West Lauderdale used six goals in the first half and five in the second to beat visiting Southeast Lauderdale 11-0 in prep soccer Monday afternoon.
The Knights got a hat trick from Josh Murphy and a two-goal game from both Ross McWilliams and Andrew Culpepper to get the victory.
Southeast got a scoring opportunity early in the first half when Larry Fairchild took a pass from Tyler Pope and got off a good shot that was just turned away. Unfortunately for Southeast, that would be one of the few chances it would get in the game.
The Knights got their first goal early in the first half when Murphy's free kick bounced back out to him and he put the ball away far post. Brandon Rodgers would add the Knights' second goal just minutes later when he headed in the cross from John Hime.
West Lauderdale would get its next goal when McWilliams put home a loose ball to make the score 3-0. After a couple more scoring chances were turned away, C.J. Fountain would get a goal of his own when he took the ball and put it in the top right corner of the goal for the Knights fourth goal of the half.
Murphy got his second goal of the game later in the first half when he headed in the long throw in by Fountain. Culpepper scored his first goal of the game with a few seconds left in the half when his shot found the back of the net.
The Knight scoring continued in the second half as Culpepper's shot went just over the keeper and in. A few minutes later McWilliams crossed the ball to Christopher Rodgers. The header by Rodgers went off the crossbar but he followed up nicely and put the ball away to make the score 8-0.
The Knights' continued to control the ball for most of the second half. Southeast did get its best scoring opportunity when a shot by Fairchild went just over the goal.
West Lauderdale got its ninth goal when McWilliams passed to Anthony Thomas. Thomas passed the ball back to McWilliams who shot the ball in for his second goal of the game.
Murphy completed his hat trick late in the game as he beat the keeper and made the score 10-0. Tyler Skelton would finish out the scoring for West Lauderdale when he scored on a penalty kick with a few minutes left in the second half and made the final score 11-0.
Southeast dropped to 0-1 on the year and will play Clarkdale at home on Tuesday.
West Lauderdale will play again when the Knights battle Newton County on Tuesday.
