The annual MACJC All-Star Football Game is slated for Saturday at Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
Earning a spot in the game from Jones Junior College are Running back Ralph Davis, offensive lineman Mark Barron, offensive lineman Darrius Livingston, wide receiver Devon Rodgers, linebacker Josh Tate and defensive back David Scott.
Tate played his high school ball at Wayne Academy, while Davis played for Quitman High School.
Chosen from East Central Community College are quarterback Brian Zbydniewski, tailback Patrick Prince, wide receiver Dontay Spillman, offensive lineman Jerry Spencer, and defensive lineman Keith Curry.
East Mississippi players playing in the game will be running back David Yates, offensive tackle Al Cummings and defensive back Ryan Waldrop.

EMCC hosts rare doubleheader Thursday
While it is not unusual for the East Mississippi Community College men's and women's basketball teams to play at the same place on the same day, it is a little unusual for the Lady Lions and Lions to host two different schools.
The women will take on Bevill (Ala.) State at 5 p.m. in Currie Coliseum on the campus of EMCC in Scooba on Thursday, while the men will face Marion (Ala.) Institute at 7 p.m.
The EMCC men and women both have 1-5 records going into tonight's doubleheader at Jones Junior College in Ellisville.
The women picked up their first win of the season last week when they used clutch free-throw shooting to down host Bevill State in Tournament play. The Lady Lions knocked down six free throws in overtime to win 79-77.
Katrina Barr hit on four of those free shots, while Kelly Peoples notched the last two.
The women almost picked up their first win of the year the night before when they dropped a 53-52 decision to Bishop (Ala.) State.

Welcome back Mr. Cooper
Itawamba men's basketball coach Marty Cooper led East Central to the MACJC state championship during the 1992-93 season.
His Indians came into the ECCC Classic with a perfect 2-0 mark last week with wins over Northwest Shoals and Bevill State only to leave 2-2 with losses to Jones and the host Warriors.

These Eagles like to fly solo
While the Meridian Community College men's and women's basketball teams have already played at the same place against the same school six times this year and have 13 more doubleheaders on their schedules, they also don't mind flying solo.
The men have played without the women twice already this season, and have seven more solo dates lined up. The Eagles travel to take on Alabama Southern at 7 p.m. on Tuesday and host Jones Junior college in a men's only game at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6.
The women have already played three times without the men once in a tournament and one other time when the men's game was postponed and are scheduled to play without the men eight other times.
Two of those are in the Delgado Classic in New Orleans on Dec. 7-8. The highlight of those remaining eight women's only games will come on Monday, Feb. 4 when East Central Community College comes to town for a 7 p.m. contest.
ECCC (2001) and MCC (1999 and 2000) have won the last three Region 23 Championships.

Making the early commitment
East Mississippi Community College offensive tackle Gene Perry (6-3, 280) has verbally committed to play for the University of Arkansas next season. Perry played his prep football at Starkville High School.
Three-hundred pound Al Cummings told EMCC assistant coach S.E. Sullins that he was leaning toward signing with the University of Alabama-Birmingham.
Standout linebacker Nate Hardage of Jones has committed to Florida State, while defensive end Fred Bluefield is expected to sign with Arkansas and defensive back David Scott has committed to the University of Alabama.
The signing date for junior college players who are eligible to compete in spring drills with their new four-year schools is Dec. 17.

Some big help is on the way
After dropping a pair of games to East Central and Jones in the ECCC Classic last week, the Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs fell to 2-5, but you can expect them to be a whole lot better after Christmas.
