Meridian boys fall; girls roll to win

Wayne County outscored Northeast Jones by 10 points in the opening quarter Tuesday night. The Tigers battled hard but never recovered from the early deficit.
For Wayne County (4-2), Jerald Hill scored 29 points, while Dietric Slater added 17 points.
For Northeast Jones (3-3), Danny White scored 15 points. Kevin Ducksworth and Pat Tyson each added 12 points.

Northeast Jones girls' coach Vicki Rutland was pleased with her squad's performance.
Wayne County held a 13-9 advantage after one quarter. The Lady Eagles stretched that advantage to a 26-11 push at the intermission.
For Wayne County (7-1), Carla Bartee had 24 points. Both Sonya Henderson and Nicole Jordan added 11 points apiece.
For Northeast Jones (3-5), Taphne Jackson led a balanced scoring attack with eight points.
Both Northeast Jones squads play makeup games at Raleigh Thursday. Both Northeast squads host Quitman Friday. Also Friday, Wayne County hosts Meridian, while West Jones travels to Magee.

Heritage Academy beat Central 53-45 in girls prep hoop action Tuesday night. Heritage improved to 4-2 with the win. Central falls to 0-5.
Leading scorer for Heritage was Victoria Beard with 15 points. Central's Olivia Reed had 14 points and five rebounds.

The Kemper Academy boys got their first win of the season beating Central Academy of Macon 46-37 on Monday night.
John Warren tossed in 15 points and Adam Davis had 13 for Kemper. Central was led by Tyler Huerkamp with 14.

The Louisville Wildcats went to 6-1 on the season by blasting Winona 64-31 on Tuesday night.
Mario Kirksey and Ryan Hudson each had 12 points to lead the Wildcats.
Louisville led 32-11 at the half and was never challenged.

Winona Girls 48
The Louisville Lady Wildcats built a 31-18 halftime lead and then went on to beat Winona on Tuesday.
The Lady Wildcats move to 5-4 on the season. They were led by Dee Forest with a game high 32 points.
Rebul Academy Girls 47
Heidelberg 36
Rebul slipped by the Heidelberg Academy Lady Raiders on Tuesday 47-36.
Rebul moved to 6-3 with the win. They got 25 points from Rachel Sullivan and 10 from Jamie Inabent.
Heidelberg was led by Suzanne Lightsey with 11 points.
Rebul led 27-20 at the half and 36-23 after three quarters.
Kemper Academy Girls 53

Kayla Mosley and Libby Myers combined for 28 points in Kemper's win over Central Academy. Kemper improves to 6-3 with the win.
Mosley had 16 points and Myers had 12 for Kemper. Leslie Hancock led Central with 10 points.

Williams Sullivan 75
Kemper County laid down the law with a 94-75 victory over William Sullivan in boys prep hoops action Tuesday night.
Kemper County improved their overall record to 5-1 for the season. William Sullivan's Ty Young had a game high 31 points.

The Williams Sullivan Lady Yellow Jackets improved to 11-0 on the season with a 78-56 rout of Kemper County on Tuesday.
The loss drops the Kemper girls to 1-3.
Angela Howard powered in 33 points to the Lady Jackets while Mary Timms added 16.
Monique Mosley tossed in 16 and Tamician Davis added 14 to lead the Kemper girls.
Williams-Sullivan used a 24-10 third quarter to break open a one-point 28-27 game.

Casey McMahan hit for 28 points and Andi Chesney scored 20 to lead the Lady Generals to their first win of the season.
NCA outscored Sylva-Bay 16-9 in the first quarter to provide the eventual winning margin.
