King David' set for Friday at MCC
Meridian Community College alumnus Eric van Hoven will join the MCC Singers and Community Chorus as guest tenor in the Arts &Letters Series production of King David on Friday. Curtain is 7:30 p.m. in the McCain Theater on the MCC campus.
A Meridian native, van Hoven made his Broadway debut in the Tony Award-winning production of Bernstein's Candide. He has appeared in more than 30 operas and musical theater productions nationwide. King David is a musical narrative of the life of David.
Dr. Bob Hermetz will conduct the chorus with an orchestral accompaniment in this holiday concert. Tickets are $5, adults; $3, students. For ticket information, call 484-8696.

Thursday: The annual Meridian Holiday Christmas Parade will feature floats, community groups, walking horses, bands, dancers and Santa Claus. There will be a tree lighting 5:30 p.m. at city hall. Parade is at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call 693-2991
Saturday: The Meridian Little Theatre Guild's "Breakfast with Santa" will be held at the Meridian Little Theatre Playhouse. Reservations are required. For more information call 482-6371.
Sunday through Saturday: The "Trees of Christmas" tours at Merrehope will be held. Tours of historic Merrehope, a beautifully restored antebellum home, circa 1858, and the F. W. Williams House, a restored Victorian house, circa 1886, offer Christmas trees decorated in various themes. Admission is $8 for adults and $2 for students. Dec. 6-9 : Highland Baptist Church will present its "Singing Christmas Tree" program. Highland Baptist Church is located at 3400 27th St. Program times are Dec. 6-7, 7 p.m., and Dec. 8-9, 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Admission is free but tickets must be reserved in advance. Dec. 6-12: Meridian Little Theatre will be presenting " Nuncrackers." The hilarious Nunsense Carolers are back with their Christmas Musical. Season tickets and single performance tickets are available. For more information or tickets call 482-6371.
Dec. 8: The History in Art in Meridian is a membership gala to be held for the Meridian Museum of Art. It will be held from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the Museum. For more information, call 693-1501.
Dec. 9: Get in the spirit of Christmas and help the Meridian Swim Association, too! Come to Ann and Sonny Crowe's Santa Open House at 7760 Lakeview Drive. Don't miss this amazing private collection of Santa Claus in every shape and form. Every room is decorated from floor to ceiling with Santa trees, pictures, animated and static displays and much more.
Open to the public from 2 p.m.-4 p.m., tickets are $5. All proceeds benefit the Meridian Swim Association. For more information or tickets, call 483-2902.
Dec. 13: An American Family Christmas Festival with patriotic crafts, entertainment, food and beverages will be held downtown at Dumont Plaza from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. Admission is free. For more information call 484-6841.
