Motorists in downtown Meridian will notice a temporary addition to Dumont Plaza. A 10-by-12 metal storage shed now sits on the lawn in front of the gazebo.
The shed, which will be decorated as "Santa's Workshop," is one of several prizes to be raffled off to raise money for the Meridian Police Benevolent Association's "Christmas with a Cop" program.
Raffle tickets for the shed are $1 each. The shed was donated by Chatham Enterprises in Rose Hill.
Santa Claus and B93 radio personality Art Matthews will take donations and sell raffle tickets through Thursday under the gazebo at the plaza. Chances to win items can also be purchased through Dec. 20 from any police officer or at the Meridian Police Department.
Other items to be raffled include New Orleans Saints tickets, football memorabilia, gift certificates, dinners and cash.
Winners will be announced Dec. 21 during "The Sports Buzz" radio program.
