Kemper Co. Wildcats move to 7-1 on year

Kemper County placed five players in double figures and nearly got a triple-double from point guard Terraus Westerfield in beating West Lowndes 85-59 on Tuesday night in prep basketball action.
The Wildcats move to 7-1 with the win. Westerfield scored nine points, passed out 10 assists and had 10 rebounds for the winners.
Leading the team in scoring was Marquis May with 18 points. Chris Davis had 14 followed by Kendrick Betterman and Runtarian Bell with 11 each. Gary Griffin had 10 points. Bell pulled down 10 boards.
Kemper County also took the girls game 66-62 over West Lowndes. The Lady Wildcats improve to 2-4 on the season. Monique Mosley fired in 23 points while Tanisha Davis had 19.
Noxapater Girls 45
Ethel 33
Noxapater opened its division slate with a win over Ethel 45-33 on Tuesday night. Noxapater got 20 points from Krystal Hunter and 12 from Stephanie Blankenship. The Lady Tigers improve to 4-5 overall and 1-0 in the division.
Clarkdale Girls 44
Edinburg 20
The Clarkdale Lady Bulldogs roared past Edinburg 44-20 on Tuesday night. Clarkdale moves to 5-7 with the win. The Lady Bulldogs received eight points each from Felecia Kinstey and Jor'Dan Orr. April Ellis scored eight for Edinburg. Clarkdale took a 21-6 at the half and then went up 34-14 after three quarters.

Edinburg 56
Bryant Gettis poured in 29 points while Brandon Mabry had 18 to lead Clarkdale to its third win of the season with a 63-56 decision over Edinburg on Tuesday night. Clarkdale, 3-7, went up 31-25 at the half. Edinburg pulled to within three at 44-41 after three quarters. The Bulldogs used a 19-15 fourth quarter to pull away. Edinburg got 29 points from Victor Pope.
Southeast Girls 86
Union 41
Defending Class 3A champion Southeast Lauderdale ripped Union 86-41 on Tuesday night. The win moves Southeast to 9-2 on the season. Kaneta Cooley fired in 21 points to pace the Lady Tigers.
Mashonda Samson and Kobe Buckley each had nine to pace Union.

Southeast 61
Union took the 70-61 win behind 17 points from Prentiss Evans. Ben Reed led Southeast with 16.
Patrician Girls 31
Sumter Academy 19
Patrician Academy beat Sumter Academy 31-19 in AISA action on Tuesday. Patrician moves to 4-1 on the season while Sumter falls to 0-2. Chastity Etheridge led Patrician with 14 points. Leslie Goodman had 11 rebounds.
Sumter Boys 58
Patrician 44
Sumter returned the favor in the boys game beating Patrician 58-44. Sumter moves to 2-1 on the season.
Shane Martin led Sumter with 21 points. John Upchurch had nine and Tucker Spidel had eight.
Russell Cheatham led Patrician with 15. Sumter will face South Choctaw Academy in the Sumter Invitational on Thursday.
Heidelberg Boys 65
Carthage 53
Heidelberg moved to 6-2 with a 12-point road win at Carthage on Tuesday. Marvin McDonald led the way with 17 points. Derrick Turner had 16 and Jesse Yates chipped in 11 for the Oilers.
