The Meridian Athletic Association presents the 14th annual Jingle Bell Run and Walk Saturday.
"We're hoping for a well organized event," said race director Rich Hajek. "The purpose is to have fun and we've got a lot of good athletes running."
The race and walk begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at Bonita Lakes. Registration is from 7:30 to 8:45. It is open to anyone and everyone.
There will be a 5K run, a two mile walk, and a one mile children's run. The children's run follows the completion of the run and walk.
"We are expecting between 150 and 200 people," said Hajek. "We've got a great venue for the race."
The run and walk will cost $15 while the children's run will cost $12.
The race is sponsored by the Meridian Athletic Association and D.T. Grinders.
This is the last points race of the year for the MAA.
The MAA holds races all year long along with other events open to the public.
"The MAA does a lot for the community," said Hajek. "We try to promote physical fitness and awareness. These kinds of events brings together people from all walks of life for great events and a lot of fun."
