50th anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Sidney E. Hamilton will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Dec. 23, 2001, with a reception from 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. at the Neshoba County Coliseum, located on Highway 15 just north of Philadelphia. The couple were married Dec. 22, 1951, by the Rev. Clark Patterson. Their son and daughter-in-law, Sid and Melinda Hamilton of Angleton, Texas, niece Betty Ann Peden, and nephew Chris Peden, both of Philadelphia, will host the event. Family and friends are invited to attend. Mrs. Hamilton is the former Vivian Graham of the Good Hope Community. Mr. Hamilton is originally from Attala County but lived most of his life in the Good Hope Community as well. The couple requests no gifts.
85th birthday
Margaret McGowen Tate and Louise McGowen Vaughan celebrated their 85th birthday on Nov. 16, 2001. Family and friends joined them at a luncheon celebration held at Ezell's Fish Camp in Nanafalia, Ala. The event was hosted by Patricia Tate Davis, daughter of Mrs. Tate. The identical twins were teachers in the Meridian and Sumter County School Systems. During their careers, they served as teachers and principals. They have always resided in Cuba, Ala., and still live across the street from each other. Both remain active in their community and church.
