The Clarkdale Bulldog soccer team took care of business Thursday night by knocking off the 1-3 Southeast Lauderdale Tigers by a score of 3-0.
The Clarkdale – Southeast match proved to be more than just a soccer game. Brothers Dwane Taylor of Southeast and Mark Taylor of Clarkdale have a rivalry of their own.
Coach Taylor and his Bulldogs seem to be getting the job done this year, as they are 3-0 in the division, and 6-0 overall.
Clarkdale jumped out to an early lead. Daniel Warren found the net on an assist from Justin Culpepper to give the Bulldog a 1-0 lead at halftime.
The Bulldogs came out in the second half, and scored quickly when Jonathan Pickett took a crossed pass from Culpepper to the goal for a 2-0 lead.
Culpepper got his opportunity to score with 32 minutes left in the game. Culpepper headed the ball in off a David Prewitt assist. To keep the Bulldogs on top 3-0.
With just under 5:00 left to play, the Bulldogs found the back of the net again when Culpepper passed of to Prewitt for the goal. Clarkdale won the game 4-0.
Both teams will take a break for the Christmas and New Years holidays, but will face each other again on January 10th at Southeast.
