PHILDELPHIA The West Lauderdale Knights got an impressive 75-70 overtime win over Choctaw Central Tuesday night in boys basketball action.
The girls game saw Choctaw Central take a 68-61 victory.
The Warriors saw a three-point halftime lead dwindle away in the nightcap, as Calvin Moore,and Boo Ramsey took charge of the show.
The Knights came into the second half with comeback intentions as they outscored Choctaw Central 27-24.
After the end of regulation time, the score was knotted at 65-65, forcing the game into overtime. West Lauderdale scored 10 points, compared to five for the Warriors, as the Knights took a 75-70 win over the Warriors.
The Knights were led in scoring by Ramsey with 25, Moore with 23, and Karlos Lewis with 13. The Warriors were led in scoring by Deon Lewis with 16, Sean Ahshapanek with 13, and Tyler Williamson with 10.
Choctaw Central Girls 68
West Lauderdale 61
The Choctaw Central Lady Warriors used the free throw line to their advantage, in a 68-61 win over the West Lauderdale Lady Knights.
Choctaw Central had a one-point lead going into halftime, and they added 38 in second half, compared to 32 for the Lady Knights.
The Lady Warriors knocked down 20-of-25 free throws to advance their record to 8-1 overall, and 4-0 in the division.
It was a nip-and-tuck game, until the second quarter, as the Lady Warriors found their game. The Lady Warriors scored 19 points in the final two periods, to put the Lady Knights away.
The Lady Warriors were led in scoring by Deandra Johnson with 17, Trish Phillips with 14, Shantay Frazier with 12, and Sharon Willis added 11.
West Lauderdale was led in scoring by J.J. Huggins with 23, and Kristina Gardner added 14.
The Knights will be in action on Friday when Carthage pays a visit to the West Lauderdale gym.
The Warriors hit the road Thursday, as they play in the Louisville Wildcat Classic.
