Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center's Volunteer Auxiliary was established 20 years ago with the goal of "giving help where help is needed."
During the auxiliary's annual Christmas luncheon, held Dec. 20, the group celebrated its accomplishments in 2001 and installed new officers: Rosa Wells, president; Betty Sharman, vice president; and Virginia McRae, secretary-treasurer.
The organization has 35 members.
The auxiliary's activities include: funding two scholarships for Meridian Community College students each year; staffing the hospital's information desk; helping in hospital activities; delivering mail and flowers to patients; and providing services for waiting rooms, surgery and labor and delivery rooms.
The auxiliary also helps with community projects such as the Lions Club efforts to provide eyeglasses and the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life Survivors Walk as well as services offered by LOVE's Kitchen, the American Heart Association and the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi.
