Tournament play winding down

For area basketball teams, the tournament portion of their season comes to an end this week as division contests will be the norm from here on out.
The Sam Dale Tournament is on tap at Kemper County in DeKalb, Thursday-Saturday.
Thursday's games have the Quitman girls taking on Northeast Lauderdale, the Enterprise boys playing Quitman, the Kemper County girls facing Enterprise, and the Kemper County boys meeting the Northeast Lauderdale B team.
On Friday, the Southeast Lauderdale girls meet the Quitman-Northeast winner at 4:30 p.m. with the Northeast Lauderdale boys facing the Enterprise-Quitman winner at 5:45. At 7, the Oak Grove girls take on the Kemper County-Enterprise winner with the Southeast Lauderdale boys playing the Kemper County-Northeast B team winner at 8:15.
Finals are slated to begin at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
The annual Scott County Tournament will be held Thursday-Saturday at Sebastopol. On Thursday, the Lake and Scott Central boys play at 6:30 with the winner to meet top-seeded Forest Friday at 5:30. Thursday's girls' contest has Sebastopol facing Morton at 8 p.m. with the winner to take on top-seeded Lake Friday at 4 p.m. Friday's other semifinals have the Scott Central girls taking on Forest at 7 p.m. with the Sebastopol boys meeting Morton at 8:30. Finals are set for Saturday at 6 and 8 p.m.
Kirk Academy in Grenada will host its annual tournament Wednesday-Saturday with the teams from Leake Academy and Winston Academy participating. The Leake teams both meet Starkville Academy in the opening round on Wednesday with the Rebelettes playing at 7 p.m. and the Rebels at 8:30.
Newton will be playing in a tournament at Raymond, Wednesday-Saturday.
A whole host of regular season games are on tap this week as well as teams begin gearing up for the division tournaments which will be held in February.
In today's action, Philadelphia is at Newton County, Southeast Lauderdale goes to West Lauderdale, Wayne County hosts Heidelberg, Scott Central is at Kemper County, Meridian travels to Hattiesburg, Northeast Lauderdale is at West Jones, Newton goes to Clarkdale, Kemper Academy visits Newton County Academy, Noxubee County hosts Louisville, Noxapater is at Nanih Waiya, Neshoba Central goes to Kosciusko, Quitman is at Starkville, Union hosts Sebastopol, and Sylva-Bay travels to Heidelberg Academy.
On Friday, the top-ranked Columbus Falcons visit Meridian. In other games, Louisville is at Neshoba Central, West Lauderdale goes to Philadelphia, Choctaw Central is at Heidelberg, Wayne County hosts Northwest Rankin, Clarkdale hosts Williams-Sullivan, Lamar is at Copiah Academy, Newton County Academy visits Sylva-Bay, and Noxubee County is at New Hope.
In Saturday's regularly-scheduled games, Central Academy hosts Kemper Academy, Heidelberg Academy hosts Lamar, and Union travels to Edinburg.
