GILBERTOWN, Ala. Services for Coy "Tom" Abston will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Phillips Chapel with the Rev. Grant Duncan officiating. Burial will be in Barrytown Cemetery with Phillips Funeral Home in charge of arrangements
Mr. Abston, 91, of Gilbertown, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, in Mobile.
Survivors include his wife, Lavada Donald Abston, of Gilbertown; three sons, James Coy Abston, of Columbia, Miss.; Donald C. Abston, of Turnerville, Teddy M. Abston, of Saraland.; three daughters, Ruth A. Merchant, of Turnerville, Sybil A. Beard, of Gilbertown, and Tommie Jean Brown, of Tillman's Corner; two brothers, Kisor Abston, of Meridian, Miss., and Colley Abston, of Silas; one sister, Katherine Mosley, of Lusk; and 21 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Melba Abston Jones.
Visitation will be today from 4:30 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Services for Edgar "Smitty" Talmadge Smith will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wallace Terry officiating. Burial will be in Pine Springs Southern Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Smith, 77, of Pine Springs Community, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
A member of Antioch Baptist Church, he was a World War II veteran and retired member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Smith, of Pine Springs Community; four children, Jerry W. Smith and his wife Fran, of Long Beach, Joyce S. Williamson and her husband Billy A., of Pine Springs Community, Charlie E. Smith and his wife Margie, of Meridian, and Ron Smith and his wife LaDonna, of Collinsville; 11 grandchildren, Jason Smith, Amanda Williamson, Russ Williamson, Misti Smith, Brandi Smith, Cody Fuller, Heather McNeill and husband Frank, Trisha Bonner and her husband Alan, Jeff Smith and his wife Janet, Smitty Smith and Matt Smith; four great-grandchildren; an aunt, Belle Calvert, of Pine Springs Community; an uncle, Buck Pace, of Washington State; daughter-in-law, Dale Smith, of Meridian; brother-in-law, Leon Richardson, of New Orleans.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Ebbie Smith; and a sister, Beth Richardson.
The family requests that memorials be made to Gideon's Bibles.
Visitation will be held today from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Smith, Jason Smith, Alan Bonner, Russ Williamson, Smitty Smith and Matt Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Fuller, Frank McNeill and Murry E. Rogers.

Retired
Services for Ila M. Roberts will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Followell officiating. Burial will be in Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Roberts, 94, of Meridian, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a retired employee of the Santa Fe Railroad and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, George Roberts and his wife Earnestine, of Meridian; two granddaughters, Lisa Diane Roberts Hurley, of Pittsford, N.Y., and Jennifer Roberts Williams and her husband Boyd, of Meridian; two great-grandchildren, Miranda Madison Williams and Hannah Leigh Williams; two step-grandsons, Billy Joe Carlisle and his wife Terrie, of Meridian, and James Larry Carlisle, of Meridian.
The family request that memorials be made to Jacque Seal, Calvary Christian School Scholarship Fund, 3905 8th Street, Meridian, MS 39307.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be the deacons at Calvary Baptist Church.
EVELYN S. SEALS
Employee of Green Thumb
Services for Evelyn S. Seals will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Fifth Street Baptist Church with the Rev. W.C. Brown officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Berry and Gardner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Seals, 72, of Meridian, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was an employee with Green Thumb.
Survivors include a sister, Laura Wilson, of Meridian; two brothers, Edward Smith and his wife Dorothy, of Meridian, and Horace Smith Jr., of Houston, Texas; a special friend, Vivian Allen, of Meridian; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Monday from 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
