Amerson is described as a black male, 5 feet 7 inches tall, and weighing about 155 pounds. The Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department made one arrest Friday and is seeking a second suspect in the brazen, pre-dawn armed robbery of Elizabeth and Ralph Morgan at their home on Thursday.
Masked gunmen entered the Morgan home about 6:30 a.m. tied up the local businessman and his wife and then ransacked their house, taking money and other items.
Tracey Moore, 28, of 1924 26th Ave., was arrested at his home by the East Mississippi Drug Task Force without incident Friday. Charged with armed robbery, he bonded out on a $50,000 bond later in the day.
In a press conference, Lauderdale County Sheriff Billy Sollie said evidence found at the Morgan's home led to the identification of the suspects. Sollie would not elaborate on the evidence, which he said would be turned over to a grand jury.
Another suspect, Lee Amerson, 21, of 1730 26th Ave., is being sought by authorities. Amerson is described as a black male, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 155 pounds.
Sollie said authorities do not have a vehicle description for the suspect and do not know of a "permanent" address for him.
Sollie said anyone with information concerning Amerson's location should notify the sheriff's department, the Meridian Police Department or call Crimestoppers at 917-8888.
An undisclosed amount of money, handguns and jewelry were taken from the Morgan residence. Some jewelry has been recovered by the sheriff's department.
