Army Sgt. Jackie D. Webster has arrived for duty with the U.S. Army Recruiting Battalion in Indianapolis, Ind. Webster, a recruiter, is the son of Grady Webster Jr. and Sandra S. Jackson, both of Meridian.
He is a 1992 graduate of Southeast Lauderdale High School.
Claudia D. Loftin has joined the U. S. Army under the Delayed Entry Program. The program gives young men and women the opportunity to delay entering active duty for up to one year.
The enlistment gives the new soldier the option to learn a new skill, travel and become eligible to receive as much as $50,000 toward a college education. After completion of basic military training, soldiers receive advanced individual training in their career job specialty.
The recruit qualifies for a $5,000 enlistment bonus.
Loftin will report to Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C., for basic training.
She is the daughter of Gloria A. Bonner of Meridian and Albert T. Newell of Chicago.
