Michelle Lynn May of Collinsville and the Rev. William Dale Eakes of Quitman were married Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at Pine Grove Church with the Revs. Curtis Dyer and Buddy Braddock officiating.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Mickey May of Collinsville, and Mr. and Mrs. Grover Eakes of Meridian.
Grandparents of the bride are Mamie Warren and the late Boots Warren, the late Homer and Louise May, all of Collinsville.
Grandparents of the bridegroom are the late Buck and Bea Flaherty, the late Clifton and Virginia Eakes and Lois Fairchild Eakes, all of Meridian.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Ann Barnett, soloist. The bridegroom also performed an original song he wrote for the bride. He was accompanied by Wendell Carney on the piano.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a white two-piece halter gown of Dulciana satin and Venise lace. The bodice flowed into the semi-cathedral-length train. Her satin edged veil of illusion fell from band adorned with crystals and pearls. A matching shawl completed the ensemble. She carried a hand wrapped clutch of white roses.
Matron of honor was Melissa McElhenney of Collinsville, sister of the bride.
Other attendants were Haley McPhail, Megan Hoffer and Adelia Luke, all of Collinsville, and Jenny Vance of Meridian. Flower girl was Lauren Eakes of Selma, N.C.
The father of the bridegroom served as best man. Groomsmen and ushers were Wendell Carney of Quitman, Clifton Eakes of Selma, John Eakes of Meridian, Casey McElhenney of Collinsville, Adam Moore and Ryan Moore of Meridian.
Benjamin Eakes of Meridian was ring bearer and William McElhenney of Collinsville served as honorary ring bearer.
Favor girls were Kristen Culpepper and Ashley Giles. Registry attendant was Morgan McPhail.
A reception was held at "Our Father's House" following the ceremony. Assisting were Pam Vance, Barbara Harry, Diane Archie, Brandi Chaney, Sarai Clark, Jennifer Eakes, Peggy Eakes, Amy Leake, Cherie McElhenney and Kim Thompson.
After a honeymoon cruise to the Caribbean, the couple resides in Quitman.
