Kim S. Benton, principal of Oakland Heights Elementary School, was elected to serve on the Commission on Elementary and Middle Schools at the 2001 Annual Meeting of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in New Orleans last month.
Commission members formulate policy for the accreditation of the region's public and private elementary schools and early childhood centers.
DAYTON, Tenn. Kristin Hughes of Channahon, Ill., formerly of Meridian, was named to the Bryan College dean's list for the fall 2001 semester.
Hughes is the daughter of Douglas and Cynthia Hughes of Channahon.
To be eligible for the dean's list at Bryan, students must earn at least a 3.5 grade average.
Bryan College is a four-year Christian liberal arts college.
OXFORD Nine Lauderdale County students were named to the University of Mississippi's chancellor's list for the fall 2001 semester.
Students honored were: Robin Brad Bauer, Caroline Elizabeth Makey, Amy R Roebuck, Nelson Lee Valentine, Matthew Reid Davis, Patton Herron, Jennifer Elizabeth Nichols and Courtney Lynn Nicholson, all of Meridian; and Georgianne E. Patterson of Collinsville.
To be placed on the chancellor's list, students must be enrolled in at least 12 semester hours and have a grade point average of 3.75 to 4.0.
Lauderdale County students named to the dean's list for the fall 2001 semester were: Ramey Joyce Rush, Paul Justice Bowles, Twana L. Jordan, Robert Stephen Mason, Kyle Dennis Null, James M. Paige, Nelson Kent Davis II, Julia Tate Heblon, Jennifer Hester Russell and Alison Lee Ulmer, all of Meridian.
To be placed on the dean's list, students must be enrolled in at least 12 semester hours and have a grade point average of 3.5 to 3.74.
BIRMINGHAM Meridian residents who pledged sororities at Birmingham-Southern College were Erin Brown, Alpha Chi Omega, and Olivia Hooper, Alpha Omicron Pi. The sole Meridian student who pledged a fraternity was Timothy Williams, Sigma Nu.
JACKSON Belhaven College has named Daphnie Jones, a junior sports medicine major from Lauderdale, to the dean's list for the fall 2001 semester.
To qualify for the dean's list, students must be full-time students with a semester grade point average of 3.40 to 3.99 and have no semester grade lower than a "C."
Belhaven College is a Christian liberal arts college with campuses in Jackson, Memphis and Orlando.
