OXFORD The exuberant Mississippi fans didn't rush the floor after Ole Miss beat Kentucky. Times sure have changed. From 1925-96, Ole Miss defeated Kentucky less than half as many times as the United States inaugurated a president. On Saturday, the No. 21 Rebels beat Kentucky for the third time in the last five seasons, 65-55 behind the clutch shooting of Jason Harrison.

Meridian High Wildcats' senior defensive tackle Carlos Stennis verbally committed Tuesday morning to play college football for the University of Alabama Crimson Tide. After narrowing his final two choices to Alabama and Oklahoma, Stennis opted to continue his education and football career in Tuscaloosa for the Crimson Tide.
Most all area high school basketball fans are aware of what the Lady Tigers of Southeast are capable of doing. And it looks like the Lady Tigers are just about ready to prove it. Southeast jumped all over Kemper County, then nailed its free throws down the stretch to take a 70-59 victory over the Lady Wildcats to claim the championship of the Sam Dale Tournament.

If they thought the west was wild, they obviously didn't see Monday night's division soccer matchup between Brandon and Meridian High School at Ray Stadium. The score will go dow in the book as a 2-1 Meridian victory, but the on-field score stood 7-5 Wildcats after going into a penalty-kick shootout as a third overtime.
LIVINGSTON, Ala. Rick Reedy could see the warning signs, but this time it ended more to his liking. Reedy's Livingston Tigers had dropped a 78-72 decision to Valdosta State Saturday night, and it appeared that maybe his team would come up short again against West Georgia Monday. ut instead of losing to the Braves, the Tigers kept their composure and won 90-74 at Pruitt Hall.

RICH HAJEK
After transferring to the Meridian Naval Station from San Diego, Calif., Rich Hajek was hoping to find a group of individuals who shared his passion for running and triathlon type events. He found it by joining the Meridian Athletic Association.
Hajek's passion has led him to become president of the organization for the 2002 event year.
The MAA is planning on holding at least two triathlons this year along with several 5K runs.
Hajek says he enjoys being associated with MAA.
