Trojans take down Florence

The Northeast Lauderdale Trojans kept their unbeaten status in Division 5-4A play alive on Friday night by turning back Florence 72-60 at the Trojan Gym.
Northeast improves to 21-4 overall and is now 4-0 in division play. The Trojans will take on a tough Forest team tonight in the Broiler Classic in Forest.
Kalani White led Northeast with 15 points and Marcus Betts had 12.
Brent Clark paced Florence with 13 and Jason Thomas had 12.
The Trojans took a 21-17 lead after the first quarter. Florence came back to make it 33-30 at the half.
Northeast re-established control with a 25-point third quarter to go up 58-45.
Northeast girls 60
The Northeast Lauderdale Lady Trojans ripped Florence in Division 5-4A action.
Northeast improves to 14-11 on the season and is now 3-1 in division play.
Quin Jackson led the way for Northeast with 19 points. Shaquita Bell had 13. Ashley Jones led Florence with seven.
Northeast blew out to a 31-15 halftime lead. The Lady Trojans then outscored Florence 20-6 in the third quarter to go up 51-21.
The Lady Trojans are off until next Friday when they travel to Northeast Jones.
Patrician girls 46
LINDEN, Ala. The Patrician Academy Lady Saints remained unbeaten in AISA area play on Friday by romping past Marengo Academy at Linden, Ala.
Patrician improves to 7-0 in the area and is now 13-3 overall.
Brooke Norris led the Lady Saints with 13 points and seven rebounds. Marengo had three players score six points each.
Patrician led 9-6 after one quarter and 19-11 at the half. The Lady Saints scored 13 in the third quarter to go up 32-19.
Marengo boys 47
Marengo Academy got 19 points from Brian Hasty to beat Patrician Academy in AISA area action on Friday in Linden, Ala.
The loss drops Patrician to 13-6 on the season. The Saints will host Warrior Academy today at 2 p.m. in Butler, Ala.
Jordan May led Patrician with 17 points. Steven Charlton had 11.
Nanih Waiya girls 57
Greenville St. Joe 19
The Lady Warriors of Nanih Waiya picked up Division 5-1A win at Greenville St. Joe 57-19.
St. Joe won the boys' contest 72-70.
No individual scoring was available for either game.
Newton Aca. boys 46
Wayne Academy 43
The Newton County Academy Generals held off the Jaguars of Wayne Academy in Academy 3-A play.
David White led the Generals, 10-12, with 21 points and Bud Loper had 11.
Garet James and Steven Wood each had 12 points while Barrett Tynes had 10 for Wayne, 8-6.
Wayne Aca. girls 45
Newton Academy 31
Wayne Academy picked up an Academy 3-A win over Newton at Decatur Friday. The Lady Jaguars improve to 11-8. Erin Wood paced Wayne with 18 points. Erin Stanley had 10.
Andi Chesney led Newton, 5-18, with nine points.
Wayne is back in action Monday against Prentiss Christian.
Quitman boys 57
The Quitman Panthers remained unbeaten in Division 5-4A play by blowing past Magee 57-37 in Magee.
Quitman improves to 4-0 in division play and is now 8-12 overall. The Panthers have won six games this month.
Lorenzo White led the Panthers with 14 points. Jason Pearson had 12. Marcus McCormick and Sidney King each had eight points.
Quitman led 29-20 at the half and 42-31 after three quarters. The Panthers outscored Magee 15-6 in the final quarter.
The Panthers will play host to Newton on Tuesday.
Kemper Co. boys 55
B.L. Moor 53
Kemper County took a 55-53 decision on Friday from B.L. Moor at DeKalb. The Wildcats improve to 21-6. No individual scoring details were given.
Kemper also won the girls' game 47-38 to improve to 7-15.
Sumter Aca. boys 76
S. Choctaw Aca. 50
Sumter Academy picked up its 12th win of the season by roaring past South Choctaw.
Shane Martin tossed in 24 points to lead Sumter. Chase Schroeder had 13 and Tucker Spitler had 12.
SCA was led by Rob Dahlberg with 12 points.
Sumter led 46-19 at the half. It was 60-42 after three quarters.
Sumter will host Pickens Academy today.
Durant girls 72
Durant smacked Noxapater 72-50 in Division 5-1A action.
Monchell Howard tossed in 21 points and Ashley Howard had 18 to pace Durant.
Noxapater got 20 from Deidre Triplett. Krystal Hunter had 11 and Lacey Sanborn had 10. The loss drops Noxapater to 7-15 overall and 3-2 in the division.
Quitman girls 51
The Quitman Lady Panthers picked up a Division 5-4A win at Magee on Friday.
Shaquilla Mack paced Quitman, 4-17, with 17 points and Ebony McKenzie had 10. Monica Magee added eight.
Lake girls 69
Scott Central 67
The Lake girls escaped 16-11 Scott Central 69-67 with a last-second shot Friday night. Shariece Towner hit a three-pointer with 14 seconds remaining on the clock to tie the game.
Roxana Rogers hit a pair of free throws to give Lake the win. Lake was led in scoring by Rogers with 30 while Towner contributed 16.
Lake is 19-3 and will play Choctaw Central tonight in the Broiler Classic at Forest. Scott Central was led in scoring by Britney Burks with 24.
