Victims of recent mailbox vandalism were encouraged by the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department Friday to attend a meeting next week about prosecution and restitution options.
Maj. Ward Calhoun said Lauderdale County residents in the Causeyville and Energy communities, whose mailboxes were damaged late last month, should attend a meeting on Monday at Bucatunna Baptist Church in Energy at 7 p.m.
Two arrests have been made in the case, Calhoun said.
The meeting is being held by Lauderdale and Clarke County Sheriffs' Departments as a means of efficiency in gathering victims' information, Calhoun said.
Only residents in those areas with damaged mailboxes should attend, he said. "We know the roads that were involved based on evidence and information Clarke County gathered," Calhoun said.
Clarke County Sheriff Todd Kemp said those arrested include Teddy Townsend, 20, of the Snell-Energy area, and a juvenile whose name he could not release. Both have been charged with 78 counts of malicious mischief and additional charges are possible depending on the turnout of Monday's meeting with victims.
