Lady Cougars' season ends with loss

DECATUR The 6-7 Newton County Lady Cougars ended their 2002 soccer campaign Tuesday night with a 4-2 setback to Forrest County Agricultural High School of Brooklyn at NCHS.
The Lady Cougars made their playoff debut, since starting their program three years ago.
The Aggies got on the scoreboard first when Nikki Shows slipped a shot past the goalie on a deflected pass from a teammate to put the Aggies up 1-0.
Lindsey Gallant scored the second goal of the night when she connected with a goal that put the Aggies up 2-0.
The Lady Cougars responded, when Jennifer McConnell assisted Megan Munn for the first NCHS goal.
The Lady Aggies were not rattled as they returned the favor, by scoring from the left side of the net to make the score 3-1 at the half. Shows received credit for the unassisted goal.
Newton County went to sleep as the second half started and it cost them a goal.
Gallant dribbled down the field and pulled the trigger to make the score 4-1 FCAHS.
The Lady Cougars got the last goal of the season from Maggie McDill. McDill took a defected pass from the Lady Aggies to the goal for the final 4-2 score.
The Lady Cougars' season ended with the loss.
The youthful Lady Cougars are all ready looking ahead to next season.
The 11-6-2 Lady Aggies will face the winner of the Mercy Cross-North Pike game on Saturday.
