The Clarkdale High School baseball team has a new man calling the shots this year.
Charles King will be the interim head coach until the right man is found for the job. He comes to the program from Jones County, where he coached at Laurel.
The Bulldogs have three starters returning from last year's Division 5-2A Championship team.
After going 25-8 last year the Bulldogs have adopted a new motto: " One step at a time."
Brandon Mabry, a junior center fielder will be back in the line-up for the Bulldogs. He is joined by senior left fielder Jeffrey Stokes, and senior Jake Gray, who is moving from second base to short stop for the upcoming year.
On the mound for the Bulldogs this year will be Stokes, Mabry, Jared Weir and Justin Brewer, a transfer from Lamar School.
Clarkdale will look to Stokes, Brewer, Chris Reeves, Dusty Webb, and Justin Hinson to lead the offensive attack for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs will also start some younger players for the first time this year.
King and his Bulldogs will suit up against some stiff competition as the season progresses.
The Bulldogs will open their season Saturday, when they play Southeast Lauderdale at 1p.m. at John Moss Field in the Lauderdale County Baseball Tournament hosted by Meridian High. The Bulldogs will play the West Lauderdale Knights at 4 p.m. the same day.
