DECATUR Things certainly did not look good for Joe Miller's Southeast Lauderdale team with six minutes left in the Division 5-3A Tournament final Friday night. And after Miller had been stalling while his team was down by as many as seven points, some of the Lady Tiger faithful were growing restless. PHILADELPHIA Bobby Richardson and his Philadelphia Tornadoes felt the third time against the highly-regarded Union Yellowjackets. Brooks Bryan made sure. Bryan hit six consecutive free throws, all on one-in-one situations, down the stretch in the fourth period to nail down Philly's 52-43 win over the Jackets in the semifinals of the Division 5-2A tournament.
DECATUR Although both teams were already destined for the South State playoffs, the Kemper County Wildcats and West Lauderdale Knights fought to the finish to determine who would leave the District 5-3A tournament as champion. Up until the last minute of the game, either team might have walked out of the game as champions. However, the Kemper County Wildcats walked away with the district title and a 39-34 win.
