The Trojans of Northeast Lauderdale saw their season come to an end with an 89-83 overtime loss to Laurel in the quarterfinals of the Division 5-4A Tournament being played in Mendenhall.
OXFORD Mississippi rebounded poorly and shot even worse. Still, the Rebels managed to slip by Mississippi State for the first time in a while. Rahim Lockhart scored 15 points and the No. 16 Rebels benefited from a late turnover caused by the slick floor in their balmy arena to beat the Bulldogs 51-48 on Wednesday.

BRANDON The Meridian Lady Wildcats are the champions of Division 5-5A for the third straight year and the fifth time in seven years. Joni Crenshaw scored 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Larissa Neely pumped in 15 and pulled down six boards as the Lady Wildcats bounced Murrah 48-43 in the division tournament championship game Friday night.
DECATUR Things certainly did not look good for Joe Miller's Southeast Lauderdale team with six minutes left in the Division 5-3A Tournament final Friday night. And after Miller had been stalling while his team was down by as many as seven points, some of the Lady Tiger faithful were growing restless. But if you're a Southeast fan, everything came out just fine. The Lady Tigers put together a 19-2 run in the fourth quarter and beat Newton County 55-48 to claim the district championship.

PHILADELPHIA Bobby Richardson and his Philadelphia Tornadoes felt the third time against the highly-regarded Union Yellowjackets. Brooks Bryan made sure. Bryan hit six consecutive free throws, all on one-in-one situations, down the stretch in the fourth period to nail down Philly's 52-43 win over the Jackets in the semifinals of the Division 5-2A tournament.
DECATUR Although both teams were already destined for the South State playoffs, the Kemper County Wildcats and West Lauderdale Knights fought to the finish to determine who would leave the District 5-3A tournament as champion. Up until the last minute of the game, either team might have walked out of the game as champions. However, the Kemper County Wildcats walked away with the district title and a 39-34 win.
