Julietta Cortez of Imperatriz, Maranhao, Brazil and Jao Thomas Almeida of Natal, Rio Grande do Norte announce the engagement of their daughter, Talia Cortez de Almeida, to Thomas Jonathon Null of Macae, Rio de Janiero, Brazil, son of Brenda Snare Null of Meridian and George William Null Sr. of Tupelo.
The wedding will be held in Brazil on a date to be announced.
Miss de Almeida is the granddaughter of Maria Josepha Dantas of Imperatriz and the late Mr. Dantas, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jao Thomas de Almeida Sr. of Natal.
The bride-elect is currently attending CES Othon Barraso Carvaho School in Macae. She has done volunteer work with CASASOL Charity of Brazil.
Mr. Null is the grandson of Betty Blankenship of Meridian and the late U.S. Blankenship of Dell, Ark., the late William Joseph Snare of Fort Worth, Texas, Evelyn Null of Meridian and the late T.C. Null.
The bridegroom-elect is an honor graduate of Meridian High School and Mississippi State University where he received a bachelor's degree in geology. He is employed with Osca Company of Lafayette, La., in Macae, Rio de Janiero, Brazil.
A reception for the couple will be held in Meridian for friends and family upon their return to the United States later this year.
