A group of nearly 100 supporters of the Salvation Army turned out for an appreciation lunch held Friday at Howard Johnson's.
The local Salvation Army branch hosted the annual luncheon to honor its many volunteers and supporters from the Meridian area.
While attendees enjoyed fried chicken, rice and peas, Mur and other staff members presented a few awards to their supporters.
One of the many recipients of awards, Paul Bucurel, said he's proud to support an organization that means so much to the community.
After the awards were presented, Mur played a four-minute video produced by Salvation Army's corporate office. The video showed the instrumental part the organization played at Ground Zero in New York City.
