District 3 Supervisor Craig Hitt has announced that he and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials will apply for a $200,000 federal grant to help pave two roads at Okatibbee Lake Okatibbee Dam Road and Hamrick Road.
The two roads are among 14 Hitt plans to pave or resurface as part of the county's four-year road plan. Hitt said he has spent about $250,000 of the money allotted to him is the plan, and has about $350,000 left.
The grant in question is administered by the Federal Highway Administration.
Jack Huntley, operations manager for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Okatibbee Lake, said a request was submitted last year for the same project.
Huntley said he will request $200,000 $100,000 for each road.
Planning for the grant request will begin in May, Huntley said, and the request will be submitted in October or November. If approved, work would begin next spring.
Elsewhere in District 3, Hitt said Arkadelphia and Suqualena roads are at the top of his list to be paved this summer.
