Local juniors win Junior Miss awards

Rachael Claire Deen and Sondra LeAnn Palmer became Meridian and Lauderdale County's 2003 Junior Misses Saturday night at the Temple Theatre.
The competition featured the largest field of contestants in the program's history, as 30 high school juniors vied for the titles.
Deen, the daughter of Tim and Amy Deen, attends Meridian High School. Palmer, the daughter of Jimmy A. and Virgie W. Palmer, also attends Meridian High.
Deen and Palmer will next compete in the state Junior Miss program, scheduled for August at the Temple Theatre.
Winners in the Meridian program also included:
Margaret Elizabeth White, first alternate and talent; Elizabeth Anne Maranto, second alternate; Rachael Claire Deen, scholastic achievement and panel evaluation; Meredith P. LaBruyere, physical fitness and Spirit of Junior Miss award; Alexa Branton Crane, presence and composure; and Katherine Covington Snowden, "Be Your Best Self" essay winner.
Winners in the Lauderdale County program also included:
Lauren Elizabeth Goodman, first alternate, presence and composure and Spirit of Junior Miss award; Nickolee Lauren Tedder, second alternate and panel evaluation; Brittany Leigh Sherrill, scholastic achievement and physical fitness; and Sondra LeAnn Palmer, talent and the "Be Your Best Self" essay winner.
