MCC sweeps Gadsden

The Meridian Community College fast-pitch softball team swept Gadsden (Ala.) State 8-2 and 5-0 on Thursday night.
In the first game, Ashlee Frazier picked up the win to make her season record 3-6. The Lady Eagles were led by Morgan Wright, Dreka Shumpert, Stephanie Dixon, and Layla Brewer at the plate with 2-for-4 efforts. Brewer had a double and a home run.
In the second game, the Lady Eagles had 10 hits and scored five runs to take a 5-0 decision.
Anne McLean took the win for the Lady Eagles, as she advanced to 9-3 on the year.
The Lady Eagles were led by Shumpert, Brewer, and Lindsey Stamm at the plate, as they went 2-for-4. McLean was 2-for-3 with two doubles. Brewer homered for the second time on the day.
The 13-9 Lady Eagles will be in action again today, as they will travel to Pensacola, Fla. to face Wabash Valley Community College, in the Pensacola Tourney.
