U.S. Rep. Chip Pickering announced Friday that U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development grants will go to East Mississippi Community College and the city of Union.
Union's $16,725 grant will be used with $5,575 from the city to help buy a new police car.
EMCC's $85,100 grant will purchase a truck transmission simulator that will be used in job training courses for adult students.
Pickering, the Republican 3rd District congressman, said the truck "simulator will enhance the quality of the courses offered, which in turn will result in better-prepared graduates entering the local workforce."
