United Way hosts awards presentation
The 2002 United Way Annual Meeting will be today, at 6 p.m., in the Mississippi State University-Meridian Campus auditorium. The meeting will feature an awards presentation, a review of the annual report and dinner. Tickets are $12.50 or $100 for a table of eight. Tickets will be available at the door, or you can reserve your seats by calling 693-2732.
Meridian Civitan Club presents concert
The Meridian Civitan Club will present Terry Joe Terrill, Angelina McKeithen and Tony Gore and Majesty live in concert on March 23, at 7 p.m., at the Temple Theater. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. They are available at the Bible Book Store and Fishes &Loaves. All proceeds go to local charities.
Edward L. Hubbard to speak at meeting
Ret. Air Force Col. Edward L. Hubbard will be the featured speaker March 20 at a financial services seminar hosted by Edward Jones Investments. Hubbard, a published author and motivational speaker will convey his message "the power of human potentials boundless."
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the East Mississippi Electric Power Association auditorium. The seminar is open to the public. For information, call Fred J. Porter at 483-6777.
Benefit trail ride dance March 23
A benefit trail ride and dance will be held March 23 at the Union Riding Club Arena. Proceeds will go to restore the Confederate Soldier Monument at the Neshoba County Courthouse. Tickets are $10. The ride begins at 10 a.m. An auction and concert featuring Britt Gully and Scott McQuaig will begin at 7 p.m. For information, call Linda Spears or Ellie Davis at 774-9704 after 6 p.m.
Enterprise VFD holds barbecue
The Enterprise Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Service will have a chicken barbecue beginning at 11 a.m. on March 23. Plates are $5. Proceeds benefit the department.
Johnathan's Day set for March 23
A Family Fun Day to benefit Johnathan Andrew Mars will be held March 23, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., at the Lauderdale County Agri-Center. A softball tournament will be held the same day at First Assembly of God. Four-year-old Johnathan Mars is once again receiving chemotherapy. A prayer vigil will take place at 6:30 p.m. All proceeds will go to Johnathan's Cancer Fund.

Silverleaf Manor hosting Spring Fling
Silverleaf Manor will host a front Porch Spring Fling March 28 at 2 p.m. Entertainment and hot dogs will be provided. In the event of rain, the fun will be held indoors. It is open to the public.
Way of the Cross set for March 29
Way of the Cross, Way of Peace, an annual march in remembrance of Jesus' last day is set for Good Friday, March 29. The event will begin at noon at the courthouse on Constitution Avenue and continue through downtown Meridian, making stops at 14 stations representing Holy places. Vimville VFD holding fund-raiser
The Vimville Volunteer Fire Department is holding its annual fund-raiser. Volunteers will be out in the fire district handing out flyers about how to make donations through your East Mississippi Electric Power Association and Long Creek Water Association bills. Donations will go to training and equipment at the fire department.
Martin VFD holding fund-raiser
The Martin Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual fund-raiser on March 30, beginning at 9 a.m. Chicken plates for $5. Antiques, gel candles, baskets, wood crafts, painted gourds and more will be on sale. All money raised will benefit the department.
Seminar to help fathers set for March 30

HeadStart registration for the 2002-03 school year will be held March 18-22, from 9 a.m. until noon each day at:
March 18: Eastern Gardens
March 19: Reece Courts
March 20: Highway Village
March 21: Magnolia Courts
March 22: Western Gardens and Cedar Bend (at Western Gardens site)
Children must be 3 or 4 by Sept. 1 to be eligible for programs. Please bring birth certificate, Social Security card, updated immunization card and verification of household income. For information, call 482-5211.
Hudspeth Center helps children
Hudspeth Center Early Intervention Program provides services to children up to 3 years old who demonstrate a delay in two or more developmental areas, or who are at risk of developing delays.
Services are provided according to individual needs and may include educational services, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, parent training and support, behavioral intervention and transition to school.
