Mr. and Mrs. William Thomas Goodson of Prairieville, La., announce the engagement of their daughter, Betsey, to Dr. Trent Smith of Monroe, La., son of Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Smith of Quitman.
The couple will exchange their vows on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at Parkview Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, La.
Miss Goodson is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Cato Jr. of Brookhaven; Mrs. H.D. Howell of Tupelo and the late Mr. Howell.
Miss Goodson is a graduate of Woodlawn High School in Baton Rouge and received her bachelor's degree in family and consumer science education from Louisiana State University. She is presently a member of the faculty at Live Oak High School in Watson, La.
Dr. Smith is the grandson to the late Rev. and Mrs. Elzie Moss, and Mr. and Mrs. Tillman Smith of Quitman.
Dr. Smith is a graduate of Quitman High School and received his master's degree from Mississippi State University. Dr. Smith received his doctorate of philosophy degree in animal genetics and breeding from Louisiana State University. He is presently an assistant professor in animal science and manages the farm facility at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
