The Lamar School Lady Raiders and coach Tristan Howell are looking forward to an exciting slow-pitch softball season.
Lamar will dress five seniors, and 18 under classman. Howell said he thinks he has a lot of young players who will help him out.
With the first game slated for today, Howell is already looking to the postseason
Lamar will look to April Rogers to hold down first base, while Baleigh Barham will anchor second. Lizzie Williams will be the short stop, while Cheryl Luquire will hold third base down.
In the outfield will be Myleia Shirley in left field, Celia Covington in left-center, Megan Pennington in right-center, and Keri Mathis in right field.
Summer Thomas and possibly Brookly Branning will battle for the catching duties.
The Lady Raiders will look to Brittany Payne for most of the pitching responsibilities. Mathis and Luquire will also see time on the mound for Lamar.
Lamar will look to Rogers, Williams, Luquire, and Covington for the red-hot bats, and it will look to those same girls, plus Thomas, for its stiff defense.
The Lady Raiders look to start the season off in the right direction, today when they battle Wayne Academy at the Northeast Complex.
